These terms govern your use of GradCompass. By creating an account or submitting a scan, you agree to them. Questions: help@gradcompass.co.
Who runs GradCompass
GradCompass is built and run by a single independent developer. "We" and "us" in these terms mean that developer, who you can reach at help@gradcompass.co.
What GradCompass is
GradCompass scores a resume against a job posting across four categories using an AI model, and gives written feedback aimed at new graduates and career switchers. It's a tool to help you assess and improve your application — it doesn't submit applications on your behalf, guarantee an interview or a job offer, and its scores and feedback are automated opinions, not professional career counseling, legal, or employment advice. Review anything it suggests before acting on it, and never let it invent experience or qualifications you don't actually have — we built it not to suggest that, but you're responsible for what ends up on your own resume.
Accounts
We use passwordless sign-in: we email you a one-time code instead of asking you to set a password. Keep your email account secure, since it's effectively your GradCompass account's only key. One account per person; use a real email address you control. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
Plans and payment
Every account starts with 3 free scans, no card required — shared across anonymous and signed-in use, not a separate allowance for each. Paid plans (monthly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase) unlock unlimited scans, capped at 50 a day so "unlimited" can't be run up by a script. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
- A monthly subscription auto-pauses (not cancels) after 30 days with no scan activity — you're notified by email and won't be charged while paused. Resuming requires your explicit confirmation.
- You can cancel a monthly subscription anytime from your account's Billing tab. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid period — you keep full access until then, and it simply won't renew. We don't prorate or refund the remainder of a period you've already paid for solely because you chose to cancel partway through it.
- For a lifetime purchase, or any other refund question, email help@gradcompass.co — we handle these case by case.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use GradCompass to process someone else's personal data (a resume, a job posting) without their consent.
- Attempt to bypass rate limits, the free-scan cap, or our bot/abuse protections.
- Submit unlawful, infringing, or harmful content, or attempt to manipulate the scoring system into behaving outside its intended purpose.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell access to the service.
- Use the service to build a competing product.
We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these terms.
Your content
You keep all rights to the resume and job posting text you submit. You're giving us permission to process it (including sending it to our AI provider) solely to generate your scan and, if you're signed in, to store it in your account so you can see it again later. We don't use your submitted content to train any model, and we don't share it with anyone outside the service providers listed in our Privacy Policy.
Our content
The GradCompass name, design, and the scoring methodology itself belong to us. The scores and written feedback we generate for you are yours to use for your own job search.
No warranty
GradCompass is provided "as is." AI-generated output can be wrong, incomplete, or miss context a human reviewer would catch — we don't warrant that any scan result is accurate, complete, or fit for a particular purpose, and we don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, GradCompass isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service — including a job application outcome influenced by a scan result. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Changes
We may update these terms as the product changes. We'll update the date at the top of this page; continuing to use GradCompass after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and any dispute will be handled by the courts of Singapore — except where the law of the country you live in gives you a right to bring a claim in your local courts.
